Rochester Pride 2023

Staff, volunteers, and supporters proudly marched in the Rochester Pride Parade on July 15 – a first for GCV&M! Following a month of social media posts recognizing and celebrating vibrant LGBTQIA+ history, community, and connections to the GCV&M collections, we were thrilled to announce our participation this year – and intend to make it a new, annual tradition. By participating in the Parade and partnering with organizations like Trillium Health to provide our staff with ongoing training around LGBTQIA+ welcoming vocabulary and allyship, we want our Museum community to know that History Is for Everyone!

New resource for visitors: GCV&M Sensory Guide

There is so much to experience at a living history museum! We have compiled a sensory guide to help visitors determine which areas of the Museum provide access to amenities, which areas might be noisy, which areas offer tactile experiences, and more.

Nature Center Renovation August Update

For those following along on our Nature Center renovation progress, the interior first floor has seen a lot of changes to improve the space’s flexibility for programs, classes, and animal habitats. It’s a wonderful canvas for our next phase of work: adding new interactive exhibits! Through the rest of this year, visitors will see new, hands-on exhibits inside and out to help them learn more about the natural history of our region, maple sugaring, local habitats, and more.
